River Bend Park Disc Golf Course

The Course

Established in 2011, the River Bend Disc Golf Course is located in a beautiful park along the Rock River in Horicon. Originally designed by Madison Area Disc Club members Seth Johnson and Don Hunkel and built by the Horicon Phoenix Program as a 9-hole course.  A practice putting hole as well as 9 additional tee pads were installed in 2013.  Phoenix members Eric Reichert and Noah Katsma designed the layout of the 2nd tee pads that were added to support future tournament aspirations. Tee signs on the new pads completed course upgrades in 2014.

The course is great for beginners and intermediate players, with nice baskets and signage. Each hole presents its own set of challenges (hole #2 is short but ace-able). Players can reasonably play 18 holes in about an hour. Although it is often you will see other players on the course, it is never crowded.

The Horicon Phoenix Program hosts two tournaments yearly; the annual ‘Horicon Huk’ takes place on the 3rd Saturday in May, while the annual ‘Ace Race’ is held on the Saturday of each Labor Day Weekend Celebration in the fall.

Don’t have a set of discs? The Horicon Public Library has several sets of the frisbee-like discs for checkout.
